Stone Appreciation Exchange Exhibition Celebrates 50 Years of Diplomatic Relations

KUALA LUMPUR, 2 May - Celebrating, the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia, the "Malaysian Stone and Strange Wood Competition" and the "Stone Appreciation Exchange Exhibition for Stone Friends of the Two Countries on the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Malaysia and China" hosted by the Malaysian Stone Lovers Association, the event was held in Kuala Lumpur on  May 2. 


The opening ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Housing and Local Government of Malaysia, Ni Kemin.


The exhibition displayed hundreds of elegant stone and exotic wood works from collection institutions and collectors in China and Malaysia, which were well received by local art lovers.

 

In his opening speech, Ni Kemin said that the culture of stone appreciationhas been part of traditional Chinese culture for thousands of years and has also achieved vigorous development in Malaysia, thanks to the promotion of organizations such as the Malaysian Stone Lovers Association.  


He said that the culture of stone appreciation can drive society toward peace and unity. As a civilian art activity, it deserves strong promotion.

Ni Kemin said that next year, Malaysia will become the rotating chairman of ASEAN. The Malaysian cabinet has decided to allocate 100 million ringgit to purchase Malaysian souvenirs and give them to distinguished guests from various countries, including elegant stones, exotic wood and other artworks. He hopes that the culture of stone appreciation can be carried forward in Malaysia.


Zhu Shaoqi, president of the Malaysian Stone Lovers Association, expressed that elegant stones are the poetry of the earth and the testimony of time. Likewise, exotic woods represent the wonders of the forest and celebrate the essence of life. We discuss the aesthetics together, share our love for art, and contribute to the inheritance and promotion of traditional culture. 

 

Chen Jinchang, the general convener of this event, highlighted that this year coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China. He hopes that the exchanges and discussions between friends of the two countries can further promote the friendship between the two peoples and contribute to the cultural cooperation between the two countries. 


The “Stone Appreciation Exchange Exhibition for Stone Friends of the Two Countries in Anniversary of the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Malaysia and China” will be held until the end of May 5. It will be located at 3 Damansara Shopping Mall and is open to the public free of charge.
